task 1. Configure ACT
1. switch to the EBDD_SRV 1 virtual machine.
2. press the windows key.
3. type application compatibility manager.
4. click the application compatibility manager tile. the welcome page of application compatibility toolkit
(ACT) configuration wizard is displayed.
5. click the next button. the do you want to use this computer to run an ACT log processing service page is displayed.
6. click the next button. the configure service your ACT database setting page is displayed.
7. select the (local)\ADK option from the SQL server combo box.
8. click the connect button. the please wait... message box is displayed for few seconds connecting to the local database
once the connection is done, the please wait.... message box disappears automatically.
9. type ACTDB in the Database combo box.
10. click the next button. the configure your ACT database setting page is displayed.
11. click the next button. after a few moments, the configure you log file location page is displayed.
12. type C:\ACTLLogs in the path text box.
13. click the next button. the configure your ACT Log processing service Account page is displayed.
14. select the user account option.
15. type administator in the user name text box.
16. type Pa$$w0rd in the password text box.
17. select ADATUM in the Domain drop-down list.
18. click the next button. the configuratulation page is displayed.
19. clear the sent ACT usage data to microsoft and Automatically check for updates an launch (recommended)
check boxes.
20. Click the finish button. the please wait.. message box is displayed for few seconds, and then the Access Granted message
box is displayed.
21. close the services window.
Task 2. Creating the data collection package
1. select data collection packages in the collect pane.
2. select file-- new. the choose the type of package to create page is displayed.
3. select the Inventory collection package option. the set up your inventory package page is displayed.
4. type DataCollectionPKG in the Name text box under the package name section.
5. Ensure that EBDD_SRV1 (\\EBDD_SRV1\ACTLog) is displayed in the output location combo box.
6. type EBDD_Log in the lable text box.
7. click the create button. the save data collection package dialog box is displayed.
8. type C:\Data\dataCollectionPKG.msi in the file name combo box.
9. click the save button. after a few moments, the next steps for you inventory collection package page
is displayed.
10. click the finish button. the collect - microsoft application compatibility manager window is displayed.
11. close the collect microsoft application compatibility manager window.
Task 3. Installing the data collection packge.
1. switch to the EBDD_Cl2_Win7 virtual machine.
2. press the windows key.
3. type \\EBDD_SRV11 in the search programs and file text box, and then enter key. the EBDD_SRV1 window
is displayed.
4. double-click the data folder.
5. double-click the dataCollectionPKG file. the Inventiry collection package message box is displayed installing the
package. After a few moments, the data window is displayed.
6. cloes the data window.
Task 4. Creating and Assigning custom categories.
1. switch to the EBDD_SRV1 virtual machine.
2. press the windows keys.
3. type application comtatibility manager.
4. click the application compatibility manager tile. the collect- microsoft application compatibility manager window is displayed.
5. click the Analyze link in the left pane. the analyze-microsoft application compatibility manager window is displayed.
6. select the customer service check box.
7. click the ok button.
Task 5. Assigning application priorities
1. Right-click microsoft office professional plus 2010 in the right pane, and then select set priority. the set priority
dialog box is displayed.
2. select the priority 1 Business critical option.
3. click the ok button.
Task 6. Creating a Filter Based Upon Priority
1. select application under the windows 7 reports node in the Analyze pane on the left side.
2. click the toggle filer button on the toolbar. the right pane shows the fiter pane.
3. select the empty space under the fiels column, and then select priority from the drop-down list.
4. click the toggle filer button on the toolbar to close the filer pane.
Task 7. Analyzing application Inventory Results
1. select Application under the windows 7 reports node.
2. right-click identity finder in the right pane, and then select set assessment. the set Assessment dialog box is displayed.
3. select Works with minor issues or has solutions option under the 32 bit column.
4. click the ok button.
5. right-click identity finder, and then click click set deployment status. the set deployment status dialog box displayed.
