Task 1.Browse the default website.
Browsing the Default Websites before trobleshooting helps you determine if the problem exists
with all the websites or only with the specific website(s) that the customer is trying to browse.
1. Click the Internet Explorer icon on the task bar.
2. Type www.adatum.com in the address bar, and then press the Enter key. you will notice that the
Internet Explorer is unable to display the webpage.
3. Close the Internet Explorer window.
Task 2. Clear the browser cache and cookies.
Cooking and offine trmporary Internet file occupy a lot of disk space. If not cleared over a long period
of time, they slow down the browsing process.
1. Press the Windows+I keys, the Setting charm is displayed.
2. Click Control Panel. the Control panel window is displayed.
3. Click the network and Internet link. the Network and Internet window is displayed.
4. Click the Internet Options link. the Internet Properties dialog box is diplayed.
5. Ensure that the General tab is selected.
6. Click the delete button under the Browsing history section. the Delete Browsing History dialog box
is displayed.
7. select the from data ans passwords check boxes.
8. Click the delete button. the delete Browsing History message box is displayed for a few
moments and then disappears.
9. Click the Advanced tab in the Internet Properties dialog box. the Advanced page is displayed..
10. Click the Reset button under the Reset Internet Explorer setting section. the Reset Internet Exlplorer setting
dialog box is displayed.
11. Click the Reser button. the Reset Internet Explorer setting message box is displayed.
12. Click the close button. the Network and Internet window is displayed
Task 3. Verify the browser security and privacy settings.
High security setting for the security zones may result in slow browsing. Similarly, High privacy setting may block the
cookies from the website.
1. Ensure that the Network and Internet window is displayed.
2. Click the Internet Options link. The Internet Properties dialog box is displayed.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Ensure that the Internet icon under the select a zone to view or change security setting section is selected.
5. Ensure that Medium-high is selected under the security level for this zone section.
6. select the Local internet icon under the select a zone to view or change security setting cection.
7. Ensure that Medium-low is selected under the security level for this zone section.
8. Select the Trusted sites icon under the select a zone to view or change security setting section.
9. Ensure that Medium is selected under the security level for this zone section.
10. Select the Restricted sites icon under the select a zone to view or change.
11. Ensure that High is selected under the security level for this zone section.
12. Click the sites button. the Restricted sites dialog box is displayed.
13. Ensure that rhere is no website address in the WebSite section.
14. Click the Close button to close the Restricted sites dialog box.
15. Click the Privacy tab. the privacy setting for the browser are displayed.
16. Ensure that the privacy setting for Internet zone are set to Medium under the Setting section.
Task 4. Verifying the Proxy Setting
If your networkuses a proxy server as a gateway to the Internet, an incorrect or missing proxy configuration
on the brower can cause problems.
1. Ensure that the Internet Properties dialog box is displayed.
2. Click the Connections tab.
3. Click the LAN setting button. the Local Area Network (LAN) setting dialog box is displayed.
4. Ensure that the Automatically detect setting check box is selected under the Antomatic configuration section.
5. Click the OK button twice.
6. Close the Network and Internet window.
Task 5. Check and resolve DNS resolution issues.
To identify a DNS resolution problem, ping a website by its domain name. then, ing the same website by its IP address. A DNS
resolition problem existe if you are able to successfully ping a website by its I address but you cannot ping the same website
by its domain name.
1. Open the Command Prompt window.
2. Type ping www.adatum.com, and then press the Enter key. the command prompt windows do not recerives the acknowledgement from adatum.com
3. Type ipconfig/all, and then press the Enter key. the windows IP configuration details are dislayed.
4. Open the Control Panel window.
5. Click the Network and Internet link. the Network and Internet window is displayed.
6. Click the Network and sharing center link. the network and sharing center window is displayed.
7. Click the local Area connection link under the View your active networks section. The Local Area Connection Status dialog box is displayed.
8. Click the Properties button. the local Area connection properties dialog box is displayed.
9. Select Intenet protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) in the this connection uses the following items list box.
10. Click the properties button. the Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/Iv4) properties dialog box is displayed.
11. Ensure that the Use the following I address option is selected.
12. Replace the existing text with 172.16.0.10 in the Preferred DNS server text box.
13. Click the OK button. the Local Area connection proprties dialog box is displayed.
14. Click the Close button. the local Area Connection Status Dialog box is displayed.
15.Click the Close button. the Network and Sharing Center window is displayed.
16. Close the Network and Sharing Center windiw.
17. Switch to the Command prompt window.
18. Type ping www.adatum.com and then press the Enter key. the Successful replies from www.adatum.com are displayed.
Task 6. Test the network's DNS server for name resolution.
To check if your network's DNS server is able to resolve the domain names into equivalent I Address.
1. Ensure that the Command Prompt window is opened.
2. Type nslooup, and then press the Enter key ,The nslookup command starts in interactive mode and the IP address of your network's DNS server is dislayed.
3. Type adatum.com after>, and then press the Enter key. the IP address for adatum.com is displayed.
4. Type exit, and then press the Enter key.
5. Close Command prompt window.
Task 7. Testing the Default Website Browsing
